Oregon Bicycle Accidents
The good news is that the number of Americans who use their bicycle as their primary means of transportation to work has increased almost 40 percent in the past decade (Kiplinger, May 17, 2012). Part of this “bike boom” is attributed to local and state programs that encourage non-motorized forms of transportation. Portland and Eugene have also received Top 5 national honors from Bicycling magazine. Unfortunately, with increased ridership, bicycle injury accidents are also on the rise. Many result from the failure to share the road. Others result from the failure to keep a proper lookout for bikes in bike lanes and on sidewalks.
